Are finally done! Only took me about a year...sheesh.
Made 'em out of Sockotta yarn in colorway...um...#13...I think. Probably wrong, lost the ball band some time ago. Had a bit of a panic in that I was working on the last bit of toe on the second sock and ran out of yarn. The store where I bought the stuff doesn't carry it anymore but I did find it on a website, just didn't want to pay about $15 to get enough to finish the toe. I toyed with the idea of making a different color toe and probably would have gone that way but then (eureka!) I remember I'd messed up a bunch of the yarn when I was trying to cast on and just cut off the wicked little knotted ball of frustration and threw it down onto the floor where, of course, it got lost under my bed. And since I (*cough*) seldom clean under the bed I went rooting around down there and found the little dickens. Finished the toe successfully.
The Sockotta yarn made a nice, firm sock. Hugs the foot very nicely. Not as soft as I'd like but maybe that means it'll wear well?
I am conflicted now, though. Part of me thinks "shame on you for not cleaning under your bed for a year or more!" but another part says "see...if you'd have cleaned more often you'd be walking around with a different color toe on ONE SOCK! What's a few dust bunnies compared to THAT?"
Dust bunnies...different color toe...dust bunnies...different color toe...it's a difficult choice.
